お年賀の由来
The Origin of Onenga
お年賀は、もともと新年に歳神様（としがみさま）を迎えるための風習が起源といわれています。
歳神様は、日本の神道における神様の一つで、五穀豊穣や家族の健康、子孫繁栄などをもたらすとされる農業の神様です。
この神様は新しい年の始まりに各家庭を訪れ、幸運を授けてくれると信じられてきました。
昔の人々は、新年に家の中に歳神様をお迎えし、その神様を祀るために「年玉（としだま）」と呼ばれる供え物をしていました。
この年玉は、米や餅など、歳神様が喜ぶとされる食べ物が多く、これが現代のお年賀の贈り物の原型となっています。
やがて、この風習が家族や親しい人々に感謝の気持ちを込めて贈り物を渡すという形に変わり、現在のお年賀の習慣へと発展しました。
The origin of “Onenga” (New Year’s gifts) is said to lie in the tradition of welcoming Toshigami-sama, the deity of the new year.Toshigami-sama is one of the deities in Shinto, the indigenous faith of Japan, believed to bring a bountiful harvest, family health, and prosperity for descendants.It was believed that this deity would visit each household at the beginning of the new year to bestow blessings and good fortune.In ancient times, people would welcome Toshigami-sama into their homes and make offerings called “Toshidama” in honor of this deity.These Toshidama offerings typically consisted of rice or mochi (rice cakes), foods believed to be favored by Toshigami-sama, and they served as the prototype for modern-day Onenga gifts.Over time, this custom evolved into the practice of giving gifts to family and close friends as a way to express gratitude, developing into the present-day tradition of Onenga.

お年賀を渡すのに最適なタイミングは、一般的に1月1日から1月7日（松の内）までとされています。
地域によっては、1月15日までとされることもありますが、いずれにしても年が明けてすぐにお渡しするのがおすすめです。
